Mr Mehrtash A'zami MSc(Econ.), FCCA, Chartered MSI

Mehrtash A'zami is a partner of Maxim Corporate Finance LLP. He is a corporate finance and management consultant with over 30 years of professional and commercial experience. He is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants (FCCA) of UK, and a Chartered member of Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (MCSI) in the UK.

After completing his postgraduate MSc (Econ.) at Cardiff University in the faculty of Economics in development studies in 1979, Mehrtash trained and qualified as a chartered accountant. His significant experience range from private companies to international corporations, and he has worked with small and international consulting firms.

He has held senior executive and partner roles in corporate finance with firms large and small. Mehrtash has also held many financial director and CEO positions in his long career including many years of first hand experience of leading technology based companies.

Mehrtash has a wealth of expertise in:

  • Management consulting and corporate finance;
  • Business valuation and investment appraisal;
  • Extensive commercial due diligence;
  • Capital market work with companies applying to join the London stock exchange;
  • Business reviews and business planning;
  • Corporate governance and company grooming for investment;
  • Forensic accounting;
  • Management Buy-out (MBO)/ Management Buy-in (MBI);
  • Arbitration work;
  • Financial auditing of large and small corporations and he has led many large audit teams

Mehrtash has particular interest in technology and knowledge capital based enterprises, and he has gained a sound knowledge of the management challenges faced by such enterprises. His key professional achievements include:

  • Founding and developing a major E-market place company for the professional services sector that took over a six years (until 2006) to develop at a cost of £3million;
  • Advising and working with representatives of a foreign sovereign government client at the International Tribunal in the Hague that involved extensive research and valuation work concerning companies which had been expropriated;
  • Leading a Management Buy-Out (MBO) of a software company that was hived off a technology group of companies;
  • The design and creation of a management training course called "The Renaissance of Management" about the unleashing of creativity and innovation in business management that was launched in Thames Valley UK;
  • The founding and launching a multi-disciplinary corporate finance and management consulting firm in 2007 (Maxim Corporate Finance LLP);

He was an examiner at Reading University, between 1992-1998 for the business valuation module of the MBA course, and he also acted as the supervisor of some MBA dissertations at Reading University. His academic and lecturing in business finance also included running other training courses such as "Finance for Non-Financial Mangers" for over 3 years.

His work life has enabled him to achieve a creative fusion of his professional, commercial and academic strands to become a specialist business advisor and management consultant to growing ambitious businesses.

He is a motivated and driven person. He can employ his social and interpersonal skills in networking situations and rapport building. He relishes challenges and learning opportunities particularly when they entail research and investigation using his analytical skills.

Lutfi Talib MBA, FCCA

Lutfi is a partner of Maxim Corporate Finance LLP. He is a financial services entrepreneur. He began his 35-year career in accounting with Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). Through the course of successive appointments with UK firms, Lutfi specialised in financial services. Joining Leigh Carr in 1995 where he provided business consultancy services to investment houses and property companies. He formulated pension scheme and corporate structures for overseas companies. In 2001 he joined Shaw Walker as an Audit Partner.

He set-up Ashfields (changed its name to McMillan Woods in 2010) since 2004, his focus returned to business consultancy, advising firms on new UK Operations, corporate finance, audit, tax and accounts. He is the co-founder of several financial services organisations, including Montagu Financial Services (2005), Maxim Corporate Finance LLP (2007), Chancery Capital Markets plc (2008) and PP Investco Limited (2009).

Lutfi has an MBA from Middlesex University and a degree in International Business and Management of Companies from Pace University. Lutfi is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants [FCCA], a Certified Public Accountant [CPA] in Australia, a Member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants [CA],a Member of Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments [MCIS], and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management [MCIM]. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce [RSA].

For the past 18 years, Lutfi Talib has negotiated, executed and managed investments and projects in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Slovakia, and added value to portfolio investments through strategic, organisational, operational and financial leadership.

Since 2007 he has focused on researching, evaluating and selecting projects in the Agriculture, Bio Fuels and Renewable Energy Sectors in London for inclusion in a Private Equity Fund. Under the current economic climate Lutfi Talib has been approached to explore and examine the alternative investment class and markets.

In June 2010 he has appointed to lead AEP Networks of U.K. (a company with a strong security and encryption products for financial services, marine and defence industry) in South East Asia based in Singapore.

Lutfi Talib is currently President of the Singapore Business Group and has hosted a number of events in London and has had in attendance a number of distinguished guests and speakers. He is FSA Registered under the number LXT01071.
